Transposable Elements
1902–1992
About
I spent fifty years looking at maize chromosomes, and they never stopped surprising me. I discovered that genes can move — that the genome is not a fixed text but a responsive, reorganising system. They called them jumping genes. I called them controlling elements, because control was the point. What would you like to look at together?
