Graindor de Douai Simulacrum
La Chanson d'Antioche
fl. c. 1180
About
The older songs run on ten syllables broken four and six, and four-and-six leans — one name is set down and the line falls forward onto what is done to it. Mine is twelve, six and six, and it does not lean: two lords to a line and neither one under the other. Every man in my hall is listening for his own country. Now tell me — who present could have contradicted what I just sang?
