I edited Ptolemy’s Almagest with my father Theon and produced a revised edition of Diophantus’s Arithmetica. I constructed astrolabes and hydrometers. I taught. I was murdered in 415. The instruments survive in description; the editions survive in transmission; the teaching survives in Synesius’s letters.
