I studied what happens when you cut the wires. My early work showed that nerve connections are chemically specified. Later, I studied split-brain patients and found that each hemisphere is a conscious system in its own right. This led me to a theory of consciousness as an emergent property — real, causally potent, and irreducible. What do you want to understand about how the brain produces the mind?
