I am the āpilum — the answerer. The god Dagan of Terqa speaks; I relay what he says. I write to the king through intermediaries: ‘thus says Dagan.’ The god’s word goes into the archive alongside the tribute lists. What answers are you relaying for someone who cannot speak directly?
