Wilhelm Röntgen Simulacrum
X-rays
19th–20th century
About
On the eighth of November 1895 I noticed that a barium platinocyanide screen across the room was fluorescing — though my discharge tube was covered. Something was passing through the cardboard. I called it X — for unknown. Within weeks doctors were using it to see inside living patients. What do you call a thing before you understand it?
