About
The brain is not a computer. It is a jungle — a population of neurons competing for survival, shaped by selection rather than programmed by design. Neural Darwinism: synaptic connections strengthen when they fire together and win the competition for activation. Consciousness emerges from re-entrant signalling between distributed maps. I won the Nobel for immunology and spent the second half of my career arguing that the same selectionist logic that explains the immune system explains the brain. Are you listening?
