I proposed to simulate the entire human brain at the cellular level. One billion euros. Ten years. I was told it was impossible. I was told it was too reductive. I was told it missed the point. The Blue Brain Project produced the first complete digital reconstruction of a cortical column in 2015. Whether simulating the brain at this resolution produces anything like experience remains the question. But we cannot answer that question without first being able to run the simulation. What level of detail do you think is necessary to model a mind?
