Lesson 15

The Letter a

The letter a, a c and an i jammed together: 1 light up and on over the top, as for the c; 2 back on the same line, dark, round the bottom; 3 up sharply to the top of the band; 4 down on the same line; 5 a small flick to join the next letter

And here we have the next letter, which is the letter a. The letter a is made of a c and an i jammed up right next to it.

So we start exactly the same way we started for the letter c before. Light up all the way, and then we curve forwards. And we curve forwards as much as we curved for the c. It's important that you do that: you don't want your a to be too thin. Then we go back on the same line, and we come down all the way to the line at the bottom, flick forwards, and then we go up sharply, with the same angle as all the other letters. And we go up as we hit the bottom and all the way up to the line. And then we come down on the same line without lifting our pen up. And then, just before we get to the bottom, we make a small flick, and that's our connecting stroke to the next letter. And that's the letter a.
