Lesson 22

The Letter h

The letter h, an l and an n: 1 light, straight up, curving back just before the top; 2 dark, straight down through the crossing to the line; 3 back up the same stroke to the crossing and forwards over a small arch; 4 dark, down again like an i, parallel to the first; 5 a light flick away

Here we have the letter h. The letter h is a combination of two strokes: it's the letter l combined with the letter n. So we start off the same way as we did when we made an l, with all the same problems, of course, that came with doing that l.

So we go straight up, and then, just before we reach the point where we decide we're going to stop, we start curving back, and then we come straight down. Notice how straight that line is coming down. It's not curved, it's straight. And it comes down and hits the line. And then, without picking our pen up, we go back up the stroke until the cross point. And then we move forwards, and then down hard again to make the i. And then we flick away at the bottom.

So it's an l, and then I suppose you can say it's got a tiny part of a c, and then it's got an i. And that gives us the letter h.
