Lesson 17

The Letter g

The letter g, an a with a j: 1 light up and on over the top; 2 back on the same line, dark, round the bottom; 3 up to the top of the band; 4 down the same line and on, straight down below the line, curving round at the bottom; 5 light, up through the loop, crossing on the line at the bottom of the a, and away

Our next letter is the letter g. This is formed just like we formed an a or a c. It's actually an a combined with a j, or you could say it's a c combined with a j; it amounts to the same thing.

So we start off exactly as we started off when we made the letter a. We go light up, and we curve just like we curved with our c. Then we come back on the same stroke and we make our c shape, and then we keep going up, and we bring our line up to the line at the top, just as though we were doing an a. And then we come down for the stroke. If we stopped at the line, we would have an a. But we keep going straight down, like a submarine going down into the sea. And then we curve it nicely, and then we flick up light, crossing the line just at the bottom of the a. And that gives us our letter g.
