The key rules of professional conduct under the SRA Code of Conduct for Solicitors (2023), the Principles and the Standards; the methods of financing litigation, from private payment to conditional fee agreements, damages-based agreements, third-party funding and before- and after-the-event insurance; the substantive principles of contract and tort, including negligence and occupiers liability, on which most civil litigation rests; and the early steps of accepting instructions and making a risk assessment.
