About this course

How the court determines and imposes sentence. The principles of sentencing and the sentences available under the Sentencing Code, the Sentencing Council and Magistrates Courts guidelines, the role of guideline cases and pre-sentence reports, offences taken into consideration, the basis of plea and the Newton hearing, compensation, costs and driving penalties; and the range of ancillary orders, from criminal behaviour orders to domestic abuse protection orders.
