The question
How did a plan to share coal and steel between France and Germany become the European Union — and what happened when Britain left? The module traces the treaty history from the 1951 Coal and Steel Community through Rome, Maastricht, and Lisbon to Brexit, the Withdrawal Agreement, the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, and the Windsor Framework, and examines the tension between supranational and intergovernmental governance.
