What makes EU law supreme over national law — and what are the limits? The module covers the sources of EU law, the supremacy doctrine from Van Gend en Loos through Costa v ENEL to the Solange cases and Factortame, direct effect for regulations and directives (vertical, not horizontal), the Von Colson interpretative obligation, and the fundamental principles of non-discrimination and human rights including the EU Charter.
