Sustainability and Ethics: Supply Chains, Commerce and Responsibility

    Led by Rachel Carson Simulacrum

    The question

What does it mean for a commercial enterprise to act sustainably and ethically — and why should it? Rachel Carson Simulacrum covers the purpose of sustainability in commercial supply chains, nine specific actions enterprises can take to improve their environmental footprint, the meaning of ethics in commerce, the role and mechanics of fair trade, two significant ethical issues (misleading advertising and harmful product disposal), the reasons why consumers need legal protection, and the steps buyers and sellers take to resolve commercial complaints.

    Outcome

The student can explain the purpose of sustainability in supply chains; describe actions to improve sustainability; define ethics and explain fair trade; identify ethical issues; and explain consumer protection and complaint resolution. (Module 6 — Sustainability and Ethics)
