Led by Kingian Nonviolence Simulacrum
The third of the four philosophy-and-ethics themes of OCR GCSE Religious Studies — war, pacifism, Just War theory, and reconciliation, studied from a religious perspective and hosted by the minister who took the case for nonviolence into the century's hardest moral struggle.
Led by Kingian Nonviolence Simulacrum
The question
When, if ever, is violence justified — and what does peace really demand? You will study the forms of violence and war, terrorism, Just War theory, and Holy War; the case for pacifism, absolute and conditional, and the ways religious people work for peace through nonviolent action; and the concepts of forgiveness, justice, and reconciliation, including whether forgiveness is possible after grave wrong. The host gives the case for the just war and the case for nonviolence honestly, so you learn to weigh them.
Outcome
You can analyse and evaluate religious arguments about peace and conflict from the perspective of a chosen religion, construct balanced arguments supported by sources, and weigh the divergent views within that religion.
