About this course

What happens to an estate where there is no will, or no effective will. The distinction between total and partial intestacy; the statutory trust of land under s 33 of the Administration of Estates Act 1925; the order and extent of beneficial entitlement under s 46, as amended by the Inheritance and Trustees Powers Act 2014 and the Fixed Net Sum Order 2020, through the surviving spouse or civil partner and the other classes of relative; the statutory trusts under s 47; and the special rules for spouses and civil partners, including the survivorship period, the matrimonial home and personal chattels.
