About this course

How a will, once made, may be undone. Revocation by destruction under s 20 of the Wills Act 1837 and the case law on burning, tearing and destroying, the presumption where a will is missing or mutilated, and conditional revocation; revocation by operation of law on marriage or civil partnership and the effect of divorce or dissolution under ss 18 and 18A; revocation by a later will or codicil, express or by inconsistency; and the equitable doctrine of mutual wills, by which a survivor is bound not to revoke.
