Lectīca Caesaris

Velleius Paterculus Simulacrum

A construed Latin story told by Velleius Paterculus: in Pannonia in AD 7 he hides a fever out of pride, until Tiberius's litter arrives at his tent unasked and a wax tablet under its cushion shows him who had been watching whom. At the end he turns the same method on the man he praised a year before Sejanus fell.
