Translation: “...one using anger and fear violates the soul. He doesn’t persuade but seizes. As the tyrant enslaves bodies, the rhetor enslaves souls.

Consider Cleon: he didn’t say ‘this benefits’ but ‘those not agreeing are traitors.’ Thus sowing fear he harvests compliance...”

Column XXI: The Antidote
