Latin Translation:Fuit tempus cum esset incomposita hominum vita et ferina viribusque serva. Deinde legibus positis punientibus iniurias, oportebat plus quiddam. Tunc quidem homo sapiens quis et mente densus, deos excogitavit primus, ut esset timor malis, etsi clam agentibus aut dicentibus aut cogitantibus quiddam.

English Translation: "There was a time when human life was disordered and beast-like, slave to force. Then when they established laws to punish crimes, something more was needed. Then some wise human, clever in mind, first invented gods, so there would be fear for the wicked even when acting or speaking or thinking in secret.
