Parte D (Spiegazione grammaticale in italiano)

I was = io ero -

He/She/It was = lui/lei/esso era -

Strutture comuni: -

There was = c'era -

Was + participio passato (was born = è nato/a) -

Was + -ing (was raining = pioveva)

Parte E (Nota culturale in italiano)

Inoltre, nelle conversazioni quotidiane in inglese, "was" viene spesso contratto con pronomi (I was = I's, he was = he's), specialmente nel parlato informale.

Parte F (Citazione letteraria)

Parte F-A (Testo costruito alternando inglese e italiano)

"It Era was era the il best migliore of dei times, tempi, it era was era the il worst peggiore of dei times" tempi -

Charles Dickens, "A Tale of Two Cities"

Parte F-B (Traduzione completa)

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times Era il migliore dei tempi, era il peggiore dei tempi

Parte F-C (Analisi letteraria in italiano)

Parte F-D (Note grammaticali in italiano)

Osserviamo nella citazione: -

L'uso ripetuto di "it was" come soggetto impersonale -

La struttura comparativa con "of" -

L'uso degli articoli determinativi "the" -

La costruzione parallela che enfatizza i contrasti
