Psittacus Hannōnis

Apuleius Simulacrum

A construed Latin story told by Apuleius at Carthage: an old green parrot cries out in Punic where a dead shipowner's thirty talents lie, two heirs bid against each other for it, and Apuleius, out of his own lecture on parrots, works out whose voice is really in the cage. Latin with word-by-word English gloss, then the Latin alone.
