Caesius Bassus Simulacrum

Caesius Bassus, reborn, recalls in macronized Latin how he asked Cornutus to let him publish the unfinished book of his friend Persius: the limping choliambs at its door, the sixth satire that opens by addressing Bassus himself and was trimmed of its last lines so as to seem finished, the Stoic heap on which the book now ends, and what the metrician learned by publishing it.
